Man rapes & batters 14-yr-old Daughter for refusing him more sex in Ogun

Men of the Nigerian Police in Ogun State has arrested a commercial driver, Fatai Ogundele for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter and battering her for refusing to continue the unholy act with him. Ogundele took his daughters custody from his sister in 2014 after divorcing their mother in 2006. Subsequently, he started engaging in the incestuous relationship with his first daughter.

However, the bubble burst on May 6, 2016, when the JSS 2 student raised the alarm, drawing the attention of neighbours when her father allegedly wanted to molest her again. The neigbours reported the matter to the police, leading to his arrest.

The younger sister had fled home when Ogundele requested to check her private parts to know if she had been growing pubic hairs.

She said her father raped her whenever her stepmother was not at home, adding that he had raped her on five occasions.

Powers gather to discuss mounting IS threat in Libya

Major powers were gathering in the Austrian capital on Monday to discuss the expanding presence of the Islamic State jihadist group in Libya, just across the Mediterranean from Europe.

A government of national unity strongly backed by the international community has been slowly asserting its authority in Tripoli since late March but it still faces a rival administration in the east.

The conference is being co-chaired by the United States and Italy, Libya’s former colonial ruler which has faced a major influx of migrants from the North African nation braving the perilous sea voyage.

It will “discuss international support for the new Government of National Accord, with a focus on security,” said John Kirby, spokesman for US Secretary of State John Kerry, who will chair the conference with his Italian counterpart Paolo Gentiloni.

Controlled explosion carried out at Old Trafford

Army experts blew up a suspect package at Old Trafford on Sunday after tens of thousands of fans were evacuated from the stadium ahead of Manchester United’s final English Premier League game of the season, police said.

The emergency was signalled just 20 minutes before the scheduled start of the game in the 75,600 capacity stadium.

United and Bournemouth players were warming up on the pitch when the club ordered fans out of two stands.

The game “has been abandoned, fans are leaving the ground. Please avoid the area if possible”, Manchester police said on their Twitter account.

Army specialists were called and police later announced that “a controlled explosion has just been carried out within the stadium by bomb disposal experts at Old Trafford.”

Experts reveal Imported frozen Poultry can Kill

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has warned that consumption of imported frozen poultry products may lead to cancer, kidney diseases and hypertension.

Unfortunately, the warning has not deterred many Nigerians from consuming them. According to a former NAFDAC Director-General, Dr Paul Orhii, the risk in the products comes as a result of substances that can predispose one to kidney, liver and lung diseases as well as certain types of cancer and drug resistant bacterial infections among others.     

Medical experts believe that consumption of the products can be a silent-killer because they may not show symptoms before attacking. Apart from the health implications of the products, the importation also impedes local poultry production as farmers have to contend with low market demand. Findings have shown that about 50 million Nigerians eat imported chicken, turkey and fishes almost on a daily basis.
