The killer husband, Lekan Shonde,  who allegedly murdered his wife in the Egbeda, Lagos has said that his wife, Ronke provoked him by describing vividly how her lover slept with her in a hotel in Abuja. Lekan and his wife, Ronke, lived on Tiemo Close, Off Awori Street, in the Egbeda-Idimu area. The marriage, which was blessed with two children, aged six and four, was said to have been marred with domestic violence.

Lucy Kibaki’s Death: Africa’s Most Violent First Lady – By Reuben Abati

Lucy Muthoni Kibaki was buried yesterday, 9.12 am, Nigerian time, in Othaya, Njeri County, Kenya in the presence of about 300 guests and family members, after a requiem mass attended by over 3,000 dignitaries and 20,000 mourners. She was the wife of President Mwai Kibaki, the third President of Kenya, in office from 2002 to 2013. She is definitely, one of Kenya’s most controversial public figures in the last 50 years.

There has been no other First Lady like her in the history of Kenya and perhaps in the whole of Africa. It was indeed not surprising that her casket on its journey back to Nairobi, from Bupa Cromwell Hospital, South West London, where she died on April 26, was draped in national colours and that she received the equivalent of a state burial. Mama Lucy was that type of First Lady who had she been denied such state recognition and if the dead could rise and return to sleep, would have stormed out of the casket and accuse the government of Kenya of disrespecting her. She was one hell of a woman. It seems Kenyans are afraid of her, in life, even in death. Ironically, there has been more

EFCC: Stop acting irresponsibly, Fayose warns

Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has frowned at the persistent harassment of Nigerians by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) without due regard to the rule of law.
Fayose described as “irresponsible, barbaric and undemocratic” the continued detention without trial of Mr. Warimopei Dudafa, a former Special Assistant on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and invasion of the Abuja residence of former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode.
He said it was the height of executive rascality for the EFCC to have held occupants of Fani-Kayode’s residence hostage for eight hours, despite that he was only invited to come to the EFCC office on Monday and no evidence that Fani-Kayode refused to honour the invitation.

A Nigerian fighter jet
The United States is considering selling Nigeria ground attack planes to help fight Boko Haram rebels, officials said Friday.
Nigeria’s Western allies have vowed to assist the West African giant in its fight against the brutal Islamist group, but have been cautious of providing arms to troops regularly accused of extrajudicial killings.
Washington is now, however, contemplating selling Nigeria a dozen A-29 Super Tucano ground attack planes of the type US contractors have supplied to Afghanistan to help it strike Taliban guerrillas.
US officials would not publicly confirm the plan, as it has not been formally approved or explained to Congress, but said Washington is looking for ways to help President Muhammadu Buhari’s
