Muslim Man Stabbed to death for Posting Easter Message

A 40-year-old Muslim man and a shopkeeper, Asad Shah, has been killed by a fellow Muslim for posting an Easter message online. The killer reportedly travelled from 200 miles away.

Shah was allegedly stabbed to death in his shop in what was called a sectarian attack against Shah, said to belong to a peace-loving branch of Islam.

Reports said Shah was stabbed up to 30 times with a kitchen knife and his head was stamped on in the brutal attack on Thursday.

Hours before his gruesome murder, Shah was said to have written on his Facebook page: "Good Friday and very Happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation."

Consequently, according to reports, the bearded murderer was said to have travelled from his Scotland home in Bradford to Mr Shah's store in Glasgow.

After the incident, Shah's customers immediately created AGoFundMe page to raise funds for his family.

Friends and customers of Shah in their different posts on Facebook described him as a "popular, well-respected and much-loved" member of the community.

In two days, more than £51,000 was said to have been raised from thousands of people who donated for the upkeep of Shah's family.

The Scottish police in their preliminary report suspected the incident was "religiously prejudiced."

Reports claimed killing of Shah, who belonged to the Ahmadi community, which "promotes peace and tolerance" but has been persecuted by members of orthodox Islamic sects in Pakistan, was a set up.
His murder is believed to be the first major anti-Ahmadi incident in the UK, and has sparked fears Islamic sectarianism has spread to Britain.

However, the police have arrested a 32-year-old Muslim man belonging to the rival Sunni sect over the murder, and detectives are said to be investigating how an attacker became enraged over faith-related messages which Shah posted on his Facebook page.

Shah's family, according to reports, said they now live in fear of retribution in the wake of the attack.
