Buhari’s approval rating Declines for the first time in months – Poll

A monthly poll tracking the performance of governments at all levels in Nigeria, and providing feedback from the public to their elected officials, has recorded President Muhammadu Buhari’s first major approval rating slide.
The February survey by Governance Advancement Initiative for Nigeria, GAIN, said more Nigerians for the first time since December 2015 scored Mr. Buhari low on jobs, economy, and power.
In earlier months, the poll found that majority of respondents did not blame President Buhari for Nigeria’s current economic troubles. They blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan instead.
The trend however shifted significantly in February as the nation’s economic crisis bit harder, in what the poll coordinators said suggested the president’s “honey moon” might have ended.
“The survey was administered using electronic media between February 22nd and 29th, 2016. A total of 757 complete responses were received. The survey results have a 4% margin of error at a 95% confidence level,” said Malcolm Fabiyi, one of the poll’s coordinators, who previously served as a visiting professor at the Lagos Business School.
The February result showed that Mr. Buhari’s approval rating dropped from 63.4% in January to 32.8%, and more Nigerians held the president responsible for the struggling economy for the first time.
The president scored low on jobs, economy, power, and rule of law. A huge 79 per cent of respondents rated the government’s handling of recurring clashes between herdsmen and farmers poor.

Western security services to probe IS identity leak reports

Western intelligence services examined Thursday a potential treasure trove of leaked IS registration documents, some of which were deemed likely to be authentic by the German intelligence service despite the doubts of many experts.
The information, which could help track down current and former Islamic State group jihadists, was included in forms which new recruits had to fill out, British and German media reported.
The documents contain details like names, dates of birth and phone numbers for people from 51 countries including from Britain, northern Europe, the Middle East, north Africa, the United States and Canada.
British broadcaster Sky News said it had shared with British security services documents with the identities of some 22,000 IS group members.
While Britain’s interior ministry said it would not comment on national security matters in line with normal policy, a spokeswoman for Prime Minister David Cameron said the government would “look at how this information can be used in the fight against Daesh,” another term for Islamic State.

“If it can, then we would welcome that,” she said, adding that the government had not been aware of the story before it was reported by Sky.
German federal police spokesman Markus Koths said there was “a very high probability” that documents reported by German media as identifying German jihadists were genuine.
“We are therefore taking them into account as part of our law enforcement and security measures,” he added.
Fredrik Milder, a spokesman for Sweden’s Sapo intelligence service, meanwhile told TT news agency: “We are aware of the existence of this list.”
“Our security services have received such information,” he said.
The developments follow German media reports earlier this week about a questionnaire which new IS recruits from Germany had to fill in.
German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere said they would help “a better understanding of the structures” of IS and pave the way for “faster, clearer investigations and higher prison sentences”.
Experts said the documents would be valuable if authentic, although they pointed out mistakes and uncharacteristic language in the forms.
Richard Barrett, formerly a senior figure in Britain’s MI6 overseas intelligence service, said the leak would be “an absolute gold mine of information of enormous significance and interest”

"Damn Pink we were all born naked society sexualizes our breast and bodies. If a grown mother of 2 is comfortable with her body and wants to show it off that's none of ur business or anyone else's. Now, if u wanna talk to kids and be a mentor to young teens, tell them to go to school and to not use their bodies to get ahead?!

I'm all for it! But please as a grown woman let another grown woman live as she wishes. That's our problem! We're so quick to down each other instead of uplifting!

Pink, We've seen u damn near naked swinging from a rope( Beautifully) but what's the difference between a rope, a pole and a pic on Instagram? Classism. Because u sing while ur half naked does that make it "Classy" or is it because u have a "talent"? I'm not dissing at all Pink just curious after u said "You'll never have to make a silly excuse for yourself"."

Contractor Of Collapsed Lagos Building Arrested As Death Toll Reaches 30

Police in Lagos have arrested the contractor responsible for the collapsed building in Lagos, according to police spokesperson Oladapo Badmus.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the death toll from the collapsed Lagos on Tuesday has risen to 30.

“As we speak, we have been able to rescue 13 people alive, and unfortunately, 30 others have been brought out dead,” said Michael Akindele, general manager of LASEMA.” He further stated that the rescue operation is still ongoing''.
In response to the collapse, the Standard Organization (SON) inspected the site where the building collapsed in addition to other buildings in the area.

Ondo Lawmakers Break Into Factions As Aggrieved Members Reverse Speaker's Impeachment

Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Information has claimed that it has reversed the impeachment of Speaker Jumoke Akindele and Deputy Fatai Olotu. The aggrieved lawmakers immediately appointed Iroju Ogundeji from Odigbo Constituency, and Ago Arowole from Owo Constituency to succeed the Akindele and Fatai as the new Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively.
The Committee on Information Chairman, Olumide George, announced the reversal on Wednesday in Akure, the State capital.
Mr. George addressed journalists at the Cocoa Conference Hall in the government house in Akure, saying that the issue that occurred in the House was an "internal affair" and would be treated accordingly.
He claimed that the members of the House remained united and are living up to their constitutional responsibilities.
Mr. George was among the eighteen lawmakers who signed the letter impeaching the speaker and her deputy at a secret location in Akure.
Government said that Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko had been mounting pressure and pleading members of the Assembly to rescind their decision on the impeachment.
Despite Mr. George’s insistence that the House remains united, the decision to reverse the impeachment has caused a rift between House members.
In a statement addressed to journalists signed by All Progressives Congress (APC) Publicity Secretary Omo'ba Abayomi Adesanya, APC House members accused the lawmakers of being "cowards and stooges.”
In his statement, Mr. Adesanya lambasted the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) legislators for their impunity and advised the people of their constituencies to recall them.
"We hereby call on our people to recall this set of lawmakers, as they have failed us by acting as puppets to the governor rather than focusing on their primary assignment, which is to make laws and oversee the activities of the executives,” Mr. Adesanya said.
He affirmed that the State Assembly members have encouraged corruption under the administration of Governor Mimiko and have failed to protect the overall interest of the people in the State.
On Tuesday, eighteen out of the twenty-six members of the House had agreed to impeach the speaker and deputy over allegations of recklessness and highhandedness.

A statement on the crisis in the Ondo legislature, signed by Mr. George, can be read below:

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie Split: Living Separate Lives For Over A Year — Report

These two Hollywood legends have “been living separate lives” while dealing with marriage problems for over a year, a source tells In Touch magazine. After they had “a series of relationship-ending fights” during the family’s Christmas vacation, “the day of reckoning is here.” Brad “feels like she doesn’t listen,” according to the insider, “so he’s given up

Angelina and Brad tied the knot in Aug. 2014 but marriage is not working out for these mega-stars. “Dedicating their lives to film work, human rights and their children left them little time for each other,” the source told In Touch. And when they do manage to get together, they end up “squabbling” or passing the time in “frozen silence.”
Angelina may have hinted at these alleged troubles when she spoke to The Telegraph in Nov. 2015. “We have fights and problems like any other couple,” she said. “We have days when we drive each other absolutely mad and want space.” Though Angie admitted that she and Brad have “issues,” she couldn’t keep her hands off of him at the premier of their movie, By The Sea
Though Brad and Angie reportedly can’t stay in the same room together without fighting, they’ve made preparations to spare their kids from the pain of the break-up.

Their alone time [has] dissolved into a tense negotiation over how they’ll keep the family going after the divorce,” the source says, adding that when Brad and Angie “will each spend time with their kids, individually and collectively, just like they’ve done in the past.”

Nigerians in Chinese prisons allege mysterious deaths, organ harvesting

A group, Patriotic Citizen Initiatives, says there is a need for President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the allegation of mysterious deaths and organ harvesting among Nigerians serving terms in Chinese jail.
The Executive Director of PCI, Osemene Osita, said at a civil societies forum in Lagos last week, that the group had been inundated with distress calls from Nigerians serving terms in Chinese prisons.
PCI said reports available to it showed that there are no fewer than 8,000 Nigerians confined in Chinese prisons based on immigration offences such as invalid travelling documentations, over-staying, smuggling etc.According to Osita, those who reached PCI claimed that Nigerian inmates often disappear in manners suspicious that they were being taken out and killed extrajudicially by Chinese prison officials for the purpose of harvesting and trading in their organs.
It said an average of 40 of such Nigerians are being allegedly executed on a yearly basis in China.
