Senate throws out anti social mediai bill

The Nigerian Senate has withdrawn the Frivolous Petition Bill sponsored by Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah.
The withdrawal followed the submission of a report by Senate’s Committee on Human Rights and Legal Matters to the upper chamber on Tuesday.
Senator David Umar who submitted the report said during plenary that if passed, the provision of the bill will conflict with some already available laws.

Industrial Court blocks NLC, TUC from striking over petrol prices

National Industrial Court on Tuesday temporarily restrained unions from launching a national strike to force the government to reverse a 67 percent rise in petrol prices.
The  Court made the decision against the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) after an application by justice minister Abubakar Malami.
The unions had directed workers to embark on an indefinite strike from Wednesday unless the government reversed a decision to raise petrol prices to 145 naira ($0.72, 0.63 euros) from 86.5 naira per litre.

Davido reportedly bounces Babymama from Daughter’s birthday party


Pop star, Davido ,on Sunday hosted top entertainment celebrities at a grand birthday party held for his daughter, Imade, who turned one on Saturday, May 14.


However, it was alleged that Davido’s babymama, Ms. Sophie Momodu, who has been on dagger drawn with the 'Aye' crooner and his family over Imade's custody was ‘bounced’ from the party.

Court sends two herdsmen to jail in Delta

HerdsmenA state High Court sitting in Asaba, Delta State has sentenced two herdsmen – Hassan Abidu and Yakubu Salem – to 20 years in jail with hard labour.
The duo are believed to be members of a group of armed nomads terrorising indigenes of Ibusa and its environs in Oshimili North Local Council of the state.
The trial judge (name withheld) yesterday found the two nomads guilty on a two-count charge of unlawful possession of firearms preferred against them by the state Attorney-General, punishable under Section 3 (1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R.II, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2010.
The pair were each sentenced to 10 years imprisonment without an option of fine.
