Donald Trump's Ex Marla Maples on His Attack on Ted Cruz's Wife: The World Is 'Better' When 'We Can Keep the Peace'

Donald Trump turned heads with a tweet many considered to be an attack on fellow presidential candidate Ted Cruz's wife. Now Trump's second wife Marla Maples is weighing in.

On Wednesday, Trump tweeted a meant to suggest that his wife Melania is more attractive than Cruz's wife Heidi, with the meme placing a less-than-flattering photo of Heidi next to a photo of Melania.

Cruz responded by tweeting, "Donald, real men don't attack women. Your wife is lovely, and Heidi is the love of my life."

Asked about the tweets, Maples told Entertainment Tonight, "I believe the world is just a better place when we can keep the peace.
The Dancing with the Stars competitor added: "We're all different, but we're all alike in a lot of ways."

Ahead of her turn on DWTS, Trump told PEOPLE exclusively that he wished her the best.

"I think it is wonderful. I am very happy for her and think she will do very well," Trump, 69, said in a statement.

Trump and Maples, 52, were married for six years. They split in 1999 and are parents to 22-year-old daughter Tiffany
